MADRacing Billet Shifters
- Machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum to aerospace
specifications
- Designed and machined in the USA
- Ergonomic design is functional and beautiful
- Longer reach allows easier shifting under all conditions
- Hand brushed and clear anodized finish looks stunning
- Fitment is superior to OEM - absolutely perfect fit
- Installation is simple - ten minutes is the average install time
The actual fitment
is OEM+
quality. A pair of the R32 paddles were used as a template to captures
all of the various mounting "bits" on the back of the paddles -- a
laser coordinate measuring machine was used to scan in the back side
contours and attachment points. The scanner used is accurate to many
1000ths of an inch. Armed with a basic model, I began a lengthy process
of prototyping, measuring, refining the model, making the paddles
larger, etc.
The paddles start life as a block of 6061-T6 billet
aluminium and once fed to and digested by a 6-axis milling machine,
then the paddles are ready for engraving, buffing and finally anodizing. The precision machine work is done by X-Factor Machine and Design.
The initial laser
scanning and
design work was performed under the guideance of an aerospace
engineering firm (where I have some contacts) and thus I have been able
to access this type of very high-end machinery, not to mention the
expert advice of guys who are making parts for fighter jets
(seriously!). It was an enormously lengthy project, but the end results
were worth the effort.

Great efforts have
been taken to
keep costs under control -- I wish I could offer the paddles for even
less, but this is a very small production run, and the "scales of
economy" are not in my favor. Having said that, I think the pricing is
fair, and is still less than the OEM R32 paddles.
